Georgia Medicaid
Avesis Third Party Administrators, Inc. is the vision plan administrator for the two Care Management Organizations (CMO's) contracted with the Georgia Department of Community Health for eligible Georgia Medicaid enrollees – WellCare and AMERIGROUP. Avesis administers the routine eye services benefits for each CMO.
Effective June 1, 2011, Avesis will administer the eye medical benefits in addition to the routine eye care services benefit for WellCare members.
Effective February 1, 2011, Avesis started administering the eye medical benefits in addition to the routine eye care services benefit for AMERIGROUP members.
For the eye medical program Avesis will now be processing and paying all claims for eye medical services and procedures for both AMERIGROUP and WellCare members. Facility (e.g. hospital or ambulatory surgery center) and anesthesia claims should still be submitted directly to AMERIGROUP or WellCare for reimbursement.
