The candidate must be able to work in our corporate office located in Owings Mills, MD (21117). This opportunity is a full time, permanent, benefit position. Purpose
The SQL Programmer will support company-wide software applications. Programmer will spend a majority of time working as a coder. The right candidate will possess excellent problem solving skills, analytical thinking, quick learning and able to work independent.
Mandatory Skills/Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in IT programming on Microsoft development platforms
- Have worked with SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008
- Strong TSQL programming experience
- Proficient with writing SQL queries
- Must be Motivated with Strong Work Ethics
- Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independent and in a group setting
Desirable Skills/Requirements
These skills are not mandatory, but definitely a plus
- Developed against .Net Framework (2.0 or greater)
- Developed in ASP.NET, C# or VB.NET, HTML, CSS, and Javascript/JQuery
- Programming objects, events, functions, error trapping, data verification and completing documentation
- Experience in Medical / Optical helpful but not required
- Crystal Reports usage for building reports a plus
- BILINGUAL in Spanish is a PLUS

Job Summary
Proficient in Windows Server Administration in a highly virtualize VMware environment , Operations and Maintenance, and service delivery including ability to troubleshoot, isolate and resolve problems, install and setup equipment, and maintain system compliance as demonstrated by previous work experience. Excellent PowerShell scripting and process automation. Help Desk management and VOIP experience highly desirable.
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Troubleshooting operating system, applications, databases, email and complex data interface issues
- Performs security scan remediation's and audit responses
- Help Desk Manager leading a team of 3 technicians
- Executes successful server builds utilizing standard engineering processes and standard operating instructions requiring some customization based on the environment to include both routine and semi-complex builds
- Successfully authors documentation of SOIs on server environments and processes
- Assists with the successful installation of software applications
- Performs modification of existing scripts as required
- Provide mentoring for less experience system administrators
- System management, system monitoring and intrusion/penetration detection and alert notification
- Automate system processes
- User account management
- Assist the Senior Network Engineer with IT projects and ongoing system modifications and maintenance
Required Skills and Experience:
- Hands-on operational and support experience of IT Infrastructure disciplines (e.g. network, telecom, telephone, etc) in addition to server administration
- Mitel phone system VOIP system expertise
- 6+ years technical experience including installation, maintenance, administration, optimizing, and troubleshooting of networks, hardware, and software
- Scripting experience and SQL skills are a definite plus
- Windows 2003, 2008 Server Administration
- Strong Active Directory skills
- Exchange 2010 Email system administration
- Backup and restore experience
- VMware administration
- Firewall experience
- Excellent PowerShell scripting and process automation skills highly desired

Avesis is looking for a SQL Database Administrator for our Owings Mills, MD location.

Avesis is currently hiring an experienced SQL Database Administrator. The IT professional will oversee all aspects of the business data base. This would include, but not limited to, initial database architecture design through implementation, administration, monitoring, tuning, backup, migration and support. Position is located in the Executive Offices in Owings Mills, MD. The candidate will need to work on site in Owings Mills, MD.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Recommends areas for optimization of database performance.
- Implements robust backup and recovery procedures and creates a recovery strategy based on data volatility and application availability requirements.
- Proactively monitors the database environment and makes changes to data structures and Database configuration, SQL queries, and application logic to optimize performance.
- Ensures data availability using non-disruptive administration tactics.
- Works with developers and independently as needed to design, debug, implement, and maintain new and existing stored procedures, triggers, and user-defined functions.
- Forecasting: Predict growth based on application and data usage patterns and correspondingly, implement the necessary database and storage changes to accommodate the growth.
- Possesses sufficient in-depth SQL Server knowledge to understand and review SQL and host language programs and recommend changes for optimization.
- Design, debug, and implement customized business reports. Perform ad hoc data analysis as neede
- Implement security and encryption and provide 24/7 support for critical situations
- Troubleshooting bottlenecks and locking issues
Requirements
- College Degree
- A minimum of 5 years directly related work experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Microsoft (or other recognized body) SQL certifications are a plus./li>
- Experience with configuration and administration of SQL Server 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services.
- Knowledge and experience working with the following technologies a plus: .NET development (C#), TSQL, SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and ability to develop reports. Services (SSIS) and ability to develop reports.
- Data warehouse skills – (Prior experience designing and implementing data warehouses is a plus)
